Applications are invited from substantive Chief Inspectors for promotion to the rank of Superintendent, and from substantive Superintendents wishing to transfer to Lancashire Constabulary. There are both Uniform & Detective posts available.

Candidates will be assessed against level 3 Competency Values Framework (CVF) throughout this process (application form, presentation, and interview).

Applications for Uniform posts are particularly welcome from underrepresented groups and from those with experience as a tactical firearms commander and/or Public Order, Public Safety Silver (Tactical) commander. Applicants without a Silver POPS accreditation will need to commit to become accredited within an agreed timescale.

Applications for Detective posts are particularly welcome from underrepresented groups who are PIP2 qualified, and have successfully completed the Management of Serious Crime Investigations Development Programme (MSCIDP). Successful candidates will be expected to work towards PIP3 in major crime or SOC.

As part of the process for promotion to Superintendent or transfer to Lancashire, officers are required to complete the following steps:

1) Complete the online application form by 9am on Monday 23 November 2020.

2) Have evidence that you have completed your PDR, the PDRs for those individuals that you line manage, and sufficient CPD against the career pathway for a Superintendent. Email the evidence across to HRServices@lancashire.police.uk by no later than 9am on Monday 23 November 2020.

3) Complete the Experiential Learning Questions in the attached document by providing 500 words of evidence for each criteria and emailing your completed document to HRServices@lancashire.police.uk

Applicants failing to complete all of the above will not be able to move on to the next stage of the promotion process.

Application forms will be paper sifted after the closing date. The presentation and interviews will be conducted within the first two weeks of December. Candidates will be emailed the presentation topic at least one week in advance of their interview date.

In order to apply you will require the support of your SMT this should be emailed direct to HRServices@lancashire.police.uk. This email should include confirmation that your PDR and CPD is up-to-date.

Unsupported applicants wishing to appeal the SMT decision will still need to submit an application form in the usual way. To ensure fairness and transparency in the process, any appeals should be emailed direct to Tony Wilkinson, HR Service Centre Manager, before noon on the 23rd November 2020.
