Lancashire Constabulary would like to offer you the exciting opportunity to become a crucial part of their busy Contact Management Team, as a Police Control Room Operator.

If you are a dynamic, customer focused individual with excellent communication skills then this role will give you the opportunity to provide an essential service to the public, by taking and dealing with both emergency and non-emergency calls. This is an opportunity to maintain Lancashire Constabulary’s safety culture in relation to all areas of Constabulary business.

The training will take place from 30th September 2019 until 13th December 2019. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANNUAL LEAVE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD.

If successful you will be based at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters in Hutton, Preston, in the new purpose built Contact Management Centre. There is free car parking provided and the Headquarters site is easily accessible via public transport. Please note that due to the 24/7 rota, public transport is not always available and provisions will need to be made in order to travel to and from Headquarters. Your location on appointment will be within the Force Control Room at Hutton HQ –However this may change temporarily when the department goes through a potential business change next year. This could mean being temporarily relocated to other locations within Lancashire.

Police Control Room Operators are required to work on a full time basis covering a 24 hour, 7 days a week rota (attached) including weekends, Bank Holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Due to the demand within the department, please note we are unable to accommodate part time applications on this occasion.

The starting salary for newly appointed Police Control Room Operators is £17,363.57 per annum. Upon completion of your training, you will then be eligible for shift allowance and weekend working allowance. During the initial 12 months when you have satisfactorily completed your probationary period and are deemed competent you can apply to progress to a salary of £18,078 plus shift allowance and weekend working allowance. The maximum you would be paid as a Police Control Room Operator is £24,759 plus shift allowance and weekend working allowance.

Candidates who are successful at shortlisting will be invited to an assessment centre and an interview.
