If you are a dynamic, customer focused individual with excellent communication skills then this role will give you the opportunity to provide an essential service to the public, by taking and dealing with both emergency and non-emergency calls. This is an opportunity to maintain Lancashire Constabulary’s safety culture in relation to all areas of Constabulary business, in particular operational policing, to minimise the risk of accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences.

The training will take place from 5 February 2018 - 30 March 2018 . PLEASE NOTE THAT ANNUAL LEAVE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING THIS TRAINING PERIOD. For those candidates who wish to apply but cannot commit to the training dates, you will be held against our next course which commences 30 April 2018.

Unless otherwise stated within your application those forms received by 31st August will be held against the 5 February 2018 training course.

If successful you will be based at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters in Hutton, Preston, in the new purpose built Contact Management Centre. There is free car parking provided and the Headquarters site is easily accessible via public transport. Please note that due to the 24/7 Rota, public transport is not always available and provisions will need to be made in order to travel to and from Headquarters.

Police Control Room Operators are required to work on a full time basis covering a 24 hour, 7 days a week rota (attached) including weekends, Bank Holidays and Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Due to the demand within the department, please note we are unable to accommodate part time applications on this occasion.

The starting salary for newly appointed Police Control Room Operators is £16,755 per annum. Upon completion of your training, you will then be eligible for shift allowance. During the initial 12 months when you have satisfactorily completed your probationary period and are deemed competent you can apply to progress to a salary of £17,544 plus shift allowance. The maximum you would be paid as a Police Control Room Operator is £24,030 plus shift allowance.
