- Detective Chief Superintendent Promotion 2024 - VGU
Lancashire Constabulary are looking to recruit a Detective Chief Superintendent for the Vulnerability Governance Unit (VGU). Applications are invited from substantive Detective Superintendents seeking promotion to the rank of Detective Chief Superintendent or substantive Detective Chief Superintendents looking for a sideways move to Lancashire Constabulary.
We are looking for a dynamic Senior Leader who has experience across the Vulnerability portfolio and a proven track record of delivery. You will be expected to establish and develop strategic partnerships in Lancashire on a regional and national footprint in order to enhance our approach to Vulnerability. You will also provide leadership for the VGU, driving a culture of continuous improvement both for the department and across the BCU’s through governance, audit and compliance.
Working to support the Chief Officer Team, the successful candidate must be an effective leader who can demonstrate ability to connect with officers, staff, and stakeholders and drive continuously to improve their areas of business. They will have a previous history of successfully supporting and developing others and be committed to creating an inclusive working environment that enables the Constabulary to deliver the highest standards of policing in which our communities have trust and confidence.
Application and Interview Process
As part of this process, we will be running a Familiarisation Day on Monday 30th September 2024 at Hutton Headquarters. This day is for both internal and external candidates and is a great opportunity to meet the Chief Constable and Lancashire Constabulary Staff to see how the force operates and to find out more about the VGU portfolio. All submitted applications will be shortlisted on Tuesday 15th October 2024. Those successful following the paper sift will be invited to undertake Stakeholder Panels and an interview and briefing exercise at Hutton Headquarters week commencing Monday 21st October 2024.

Candidates will be assessed against level 3 Competency Values Framework (CVF) throughout this process (application form, briefing, and interview).
Qualifications
Those applicants wishing to apply for the role of Detective Chief Superintendent must be PIP3 qualified or have completed the PIP3 course and be working towards qualification.
