Applications are invited for the post of Joint Head of Training for Cumbria and Lancashire Constabularies.

The postholder will have overall management responsibility for the delivery of learning and development within Cumbria and Lancashire Constabulary and will support workforce development within both forces.

This post is unique in that it leads on the delivery of key areas of policing training within two forces in the North West. Cumbria and Lancashire Constabulary collaborate on the delivery of training and the successful candidate will manage a learning and development function based in Cumbria Police HQ in Penrith and Lancashire Police HQ in Hutton, Preston.

This is an exciting time within Policing Learning and Development due to the implementation of the Police Educational Qualification Framework (PEQF) and the Professionalisation of Policing programme. The postholder will lead on the implementation of the PEQF in both forces and work closely with HR departments to support wider workforce development initiatives.

You should have a level 6 qualification in management or education and have experience of operating at a strategic level including facilitating and delivering major organisational change.

Whilst experience of police specific training would be beneficial more importantly is experience of enforcing and negotiating at a senior level.

You will be expected to work at both locations, Hutton Preston and Penrith each week and be flexible in your ability to attend both locations on a regular basis.

You will also be expected to contribute to national developments by participating in national consultation groups.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 20th September 2017 at Penrith and will also include a presentation.

The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced vetting clearance.

Further details of the requirements and duties of the post can be found above on the candidate specification.

Applicants should note that there is a minimum UK residency criterion of five years for management vetting purposes in line with national recommendations.

LATE OR INCOMPLETE APPLICATION FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
