We currently have vacancies for Police Control Room Operators; and would like to offer you the exciting opportunity to become a crucial part of our Contact Management Team.

Lancashire Constabulary is committed to providing an excellent service to our communities. In order to help us deliver this service we are keen to recruit people who are able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, who can work well under pressure, adapt to changing situations / information, and have a positive attitude to the work they do.

The Lancashire Police Control Room is an extremely busy environment and deals with a wide variety of calls for service. As a Police Control Room Operator, you will be taking and dealing with both emergency and non-emergency calls and with the appropriate training dispatching patrols.

If you want to be part of making a difference to the lives of people in Lancashire, then we would love to hear from you.
Importantly, we want our Control Room to be part of the community and reflect the wonderfully diverse communities we have in Lancashire. Therefore, we really welcome applications from those communities who are under-represented within the force.

If successful, your permanent location will be at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters in Hutton. However, the department is currently going through a restructure to re-design the main control room at Hutton. This means from March 2020 until March 2021 you will temporarily be located in one of three alternative Control Rooms across Lancashire. They are:

• Burnley Police Station
• Preston Police Station
• Hutton Headquarters

If this means staff travelling further than their permanent base excess mileage will be paid at 45 pence per mile.

Police Control Room Operators work a rota which covers 24 hours, 7 days a week (attached) This includes weekends, Bank Holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) and averages at 37 hours per week.

The starting salary for newly appointed Police Control Room Operators is £17,799 per annum. Upon completion of your initial training, you will then be eligible for shift allowance and weekend working allowance detailed on the attached rota.

Please refer to the attached job description for the details in relation to progression arrangements and the earning potential of the role.

Candidates whose applications are shortlisted will be invited to complete psychometric testing. If successful at this stage you will then be invited in for an interview which will take place week commencing 6th January, through to 17th January 2020.

All successful applications are subject to vetting and clearance must be granted before appointment. Applications should also note there is a minimum UK residency criterion of three years for Recruitment Vetting purposes in line with national recommendations.

Please note the training will take place from 14/04/2020 for 10 weeks. ANNUAL LEAVE IS NOT PERMITTED DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD.
