Lancashire Constabulary would like to offer you the exciting opportunity to become a crucial part of their busy Contact Management Team, based at Police Headquarters, Hutton as a Police Control Room Operator

If you are a dynamic, customer focused individual with excellent communication skills then this role will give you the opportunity to provide an essential service to the public, by taking and dealing with both emergency and non-emergency calls.

We are pleased to advise our first to intakes of 2023, will commence 23rd January 2023 & 24th April 2023 should neither of these dates be suitable please sign up to our job alerts for notification of our later start dates in 2023.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANNUAL LEAVE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD. (For January start date this will be 23rd January 2023 – 27th February 2023. For the April Start date this will be 24th April 2023 – 29th May 2023).


Police Control Room Operators are required to work on a full-time basis covering a 24 hour, 7 days a week rota, including weekends, Bank Holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (rota attached).

The rota attached is the current PCRO rota you would be required to work; however, a number of part-time & full-time rota’s will be implemented in March / April 2023. If you have any questions around the new rota’s please email PCRORecruitment@lancashire.police.uk

If Successful at shortlisting you will be invited to one of our selection days, these will be taking place on 2nd, 3rd & 5th of November, please ensure you are available for one of those dates. The selection day will take place at our Preston Control Room and will run from 9:00am – 15:00, where you will undertake group exercises, written exercises, typing exercise and role play exercises. Further details will be available for those candidates invited to attend following shortlisting.
