Lancashire Constabulary’s Media and Engagement Department is seeking a Press and Public Relations Officer to be based at Hutton Headquarters. The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free unlimited car parking on site.

Would you like to be a key part of how Lancashire Police deals with the media and informs the public about major and critical incidents across the county? Would you be as happy dealing with journalists as using our social media to appeal for information or promote good news?

We are looking for a part-time Press and Public Relations Officer to join the Press Office within our Media & Engagement Department. You’ll be joining a busy and motivated team to help manage the media for all serious crimes and incidents county-wide. You’ll also be confident in delivering compelling PR across both traditional and social media to highlight the work we do every day to keep our communities safe.

This is a permanent part-time role for 3 days (22.2 hours across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) per week. The successful candidate will also be required to provide an out of hours on-call service as part of a rota with other Press Office team members for one complete week (7 days including Saturday and Sunday) on an assumed one week in ten basis.

In return, you will join our successful Media & Engagement team based at our Headquarters in Hutton, near Preston. You’ll benefit from free parking and being eligible to join the Local Government defined benefit pension scheme.

You’ll also be playing a key part in the media response to high profile incidents across Lancashire, putting you at the centre of some of the most varied, challenging but rewarding comms work in the North West.

The successful candidate will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota.

Further details of the requirements and duties of the post can be found below on the candidate specification.
