Lancashire Constabulary’s Mounted Branch is seeking a Stable Hand to be based at Lindle Lane, Hutton, Preston.

The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free unlimited car parking on site.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that Lancashire Constabulary horses are well cared for, fed and exercised when not out on patrol; and to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene through the whole stable complex.

Please note, this role is temporary until 31st March 2019, subject to review.

The selection process will involve an assessment of 4 ½ hours, after this a further shortlisting will be carried out and the successful candidates will be invited for an interview the following week.

Assessment Phase:
The assessment will involve:
• Mucking out a shavings bed
• Knowledge of stable management, horse health and welfare
• Health and safety around horses and the stable complex
• Confidence working with large horses
• 15 minute ridden session on lunge to assess seat, position, balance and confidence
The assessments will be held at the Police Mounted Branch, Hutton on 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th June 2018 from 8am until 12:30pm

Interview:
The interview will relate to the personal qualities and skills required for the role in addition to values based questions.
Interviews will be held at the Police Mounted Branch, Hutton on 13th and 14th June 2018.

No other dates will be offered.

The successful candidate will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota.

All successful applicants will be subject to Vetting clearance.
