Interested in an exciting development opportunity with Lancashire Constabulary?
Lancashire Constabulary have teamed up with Blackburn College to launch an innovative programme funded by the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw which is aimed to help students wishing to pursue a career in Policing. This opportunity is open to students who are over 18 years old.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to develop and increase your employability through developing an understanding of policing and Lancashire Constabulary. We are keen to encourage candidates from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities to apply who might not have considered a career in the police service before and are under-represented at senior levels within the police service across the UK.
The 24 week Leadership in Policing Programme, which will delivered on Tuesday evenings will also provide police mentors. The programme will be delivered primarily at Blackburn College with regular visits to Lancashire Constabulary departments.
During the programme you will also have a chance to observe and gain information on a wide range of career opportunities within Lancashire Constabulary including Police Officers and Communications Operators. The programme will also give you the opportunity for guidance and support in applying for these posts.
The weekly sessions will be delivered jointly by Lancashire Constabulary and Blackburn College. All students who go through the course will receive a Lancashire Police Constabulary/ Blackburn College Certificate.
The programme will consist of:
• Developing your leadership style
• Solving Problems by making effective decisions
• Understanding the Organisational Culture and Context
• Understanding and developing relationships within the workplace
• Developing Individual Mental toughness
• Managing risk in the workplace
• Identifying and managing vulnerability
The Leadership in Policing programme will provide students with an opportunity to acquire and develop leadership skills whilst supported by serving police officers and staff.
This programme is being run in partnership with Blackburn College and will give priority to students from the East of the county, further programmes will be set up at various other locations across the county in the near future.
