Superintendent Process - Applications close Monday 11th September 2023 at 10am.

Lancashire Constabulary are looking to recruit into current and projected Superintendent vacancies. Applications are invited from substantive Chief Inspectors looking for promotion to the rank of Superintendent and Superintendents looking for a side-ways move. The Chief Constable will be holding a face to face briefing regarding the application/process on Monday 4th September at 9am, If you are interested in attending the briefing, please email HR Services on (HRServices@lancashire.police.uk) for further details.

The paper sift of all submitted application forms will take place Wednesday 13th September 2023, all candidates will be notified via the online recruitment portal of the outcome. Successful candidates will be invited to undertake a paper feed briefing and an interview, which will be conducted on the 25th or 26th September 2023. 

Candidates will be assessed against level 3 Competency Values Framework (CVF) throughout this process (application form, briefing, and interview).

Qualifications

Those applicants wishing to apply for the role of Detective Superintendent must be PIP2 qualified (minimum) and have successfully completed the Management of Serious Crime Investigations Development Programme (MSCIDP). Successful candidates who are not currently PIP3 will be expected to work towards the qualification whilst in this post.

Those applicants applying for uniform Superintendent roles will be expected to already be an accredited Public Order Public Safety Silver Commander, or undertake the necessary training and qualifications to become accredited as a Public Order Public Safety Silver Commander, within 12 months of promotion.

Vetting

All appointments will be subject to enhanced vetting, MV. Note - applicants must meet the 5 years UK residency prior to submitting an application.

Officers on Secondment will need to gain approval from your substantive BCU Commander/ Head of Department. Please note as part of the decision making, your current line managers views will be taken into account.

Should any Officer not be supported and wish to appeal this decision; the form still needs to be returned along with your rationale for appealing the decision. This will be considered by the Head of HR and DCC Hatchett.

As part of the promotion process PSD checks will also be conducted for all Officers.
